THE infamous paddock blaze that could have destroyed Dorna’s electric series hasn’t stopped the Trentino Gresini MotoE squad from bolstering its backing.
After revealing its new partner, leading cable manufacturer ICEL, the electric team is bidding for a continued show of strength for the upcoming battery-powered world championship.
The Italian firm, a leading producer of PVC and rubber cables, non-toxic cables, photovoltaic power stations, command data transmission cables, building automation and electric-vehicle charging cables, has joined up to back the team for its 2019 series assault.
Team manager Fausto Gresini admitted that although the series has had it bumps in the road, everyone in the electric camp is full steam ahead as they look to their first round at the Sachsenring in July.
“Despite the setbacks, the MotoE project continues and is now accelerating forward towards the official debut,” Gresini said. “We cannot wait to see our riders on track.
“Our team has a solid project, so the arrival of ICEL is only a further confirmation of our strength. ICEL is a company committed to environmental actions so this new partnership with our MotoE team was really something natural.”
And ICEL SCPA President Andrea Babini hopes to use the partnership to help spread the word on sustainability.
“With this partnership with Team Gresini in MotoE – which sees full-electric mobility as the absolute protagonist – we wish to send a strong message we towards better sustainability and environmental safeguarding, which are two pillars of our mission,” he said.
“This partnership helps us spread the values ICEL always believed in, both in past and present times, with an attentive look towards the future. We are continuing to invest into research and awareness of both people and companies to constantly improve the environmental sustainability of what we do.”
