HECTOR Garzo has hailed a ‘great Friday’ after finishing fourth in this afternoon’s second FIM Enel MotoE practice on his very first visit to the Red Bull Ring.
And with just 0.039sec covering the Tech 3 E-Racing rider, third-placed Bradley Smith and runner-up Mattia Casadei, he’s confident his weekend will only go up.
Garzo ended this morning’s opening practice session almost a second off the leading pace of Niki Tuuli, but sliced almost 0.9sec off his FP1 time by the end of the day.
But the Spaniard admitted that the Spielberg circuit, which he hadn’t ridden before today, took some getting used to.
“Finally, it was a great Friday for me,” he revealed. “Free Practice one was a bit crazy for me, because I was on this track for the first time, so I used FP1 to learn all the corners, to find out where it’s most difficult and to improve.
“It was not easy, but at the end it was good, because the first session helped me to feel confident enough for FP2 and in the end, we arrived the time we aimed for. We are really close to the second position.
“As this was the first day, I’m really happy. Tomorrow is another day and for sure, it will be better.”
