MIKE Di Meglio ended the historic first day of FIM Enel MotoE World Cup action at the Sachsenring on top of the times as he pipped Niki Tuuli and Hector Garzo.
The EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider powered to a late 1:28.547, beating the Finn’s early flyer by just 0.039sec while Garzo, who only just lost out in last month’s race simulation at Valencia, ended the day just 0.058sec further back.
Behind Ajo MotoE man Tuuli and Tech3’s Garzo was FP1 front-runner Jesko Raffin on the Dynavolt Intact GP machine, who improved by just over 0.050sec from his morning time but couldn’t break into the 1:28.5 bracket.
One Energy Racing’s Bradley Smith rounded out the top five ahead of Avintia Esponsorama’s Eric Granado, which left OCTO Pramac man Alex De Angelis and Xavier Simeon to seventh and eighth.
Nico Terol took ninth for Openbank Ángel Nieto Team ahead of Trentino Gresini’s Matteo Ferrari as the top 10 were covered by less than a second.
